Default Smoke from or around the ECU Unit

Stopped my F150 3.7 Echoboost in the drive way today saw a little smoke coming from the engine compartment .Opened the hood and as I did so saw light gray smoke come out from around the ECU . Subsequently I have started the truck 4 times driven it around the block . No Check Engine light everything works has anyone ever seen this ? I am baffled should I take it to a dealer . Asked a Tune up guy he said if no check engine or anything else out of the ordinary just keep driving it . Any feed back from you all

You don't have a 3.7 echoboost (funny) you either have a 3.7 or a 3.5 Ecoboost. The 3.7 is naturally aspirated. Usually where there's smoke fire is sure to come, take it in and let them look at it.

Maybe get as close to it as you can, see if you can get a burnt smell off it.

If you do, it is something to show the dealer.

If no smell?

All electronics are smoke based. Once you drain all the smoke out of them, they quit working.

Since the truck still runs, is it possible that the OP only partially drained the smoke tank?

Maybe they make an aftermarket ECU smoke re-fill kit, like they make toner re-fill kits for your printer? Check E-Bay?

Did you ever figure out what caused this issue? I’m having the same symptoms with my ecoboost right now. Thanks!

Why did you quote the second guy?

p.s. I think that Ford calls it a PCM, not ECU.
