Question Shift **** removal???

Ok, I'm stuck. I just can't figure out how to remove the shift ****. There is no lock nut so it doesn't seem to screw on. How does it come off?

i think most of them are glued on. all the ones i've seen come off were due to people twisting the **** on the shaft and wrecking the splines. i think there was a little dab of glue right on the end of the stick.

dont know about your '97, but on my '91, it has splines that go vertical and then it has some kind of glue holding it on. i ended up having to take the backside of a hammer to mine to get it off.

So a wood block and some firm taps with a hammer should remove it?
