Default select shift option

My buddy has a 2011 f150 with the 5.0 in it with the full automatic transmission and wanted to know if u can get the select shift installed as an add on option with the column selector and system software install, or would that be a whole transmission swap?

To be brutally honest it will most likely be cheaper to trade in the 2011 for a 2012 with that option.
The logistics of that swap over would be way too much work.

i'd imagine that you're right, but still , nobody seems to know for sure. at least in the searches i have done, nobody has responded about what the actual procedure would be.

I suppose. Just thinking about the basics like switching from column shift to centre console would be a lot of work. Then re-wiring everything. Then reprogramming the transmission and the 4" display to show gear position. That's probably the biggest thing because I don't think anyone has tried to "hack" or "unlock" that programming and I'm sure if Ford does it they would want one arm and both your legs.

yeah, no doubt, although selectshift can still be had with a column shifter (my 2012 has it).

i'm guessing that you're right about how ford would charge so much. for example, if you want to add a man step to your tailgate, you have to buy the entire tailgate with step for.... $1500!!!

Wiring harness, PCM, Trans wiring, more harness change out, reprogramming, shifter change, instrument cluster, hmmmm I dont think you want to go down that road. Parts alone would be expensive and then add in the labour. Naw. Get it with your next truck.
