Default Second go around with cam phasers

Hey guys I’m new to the forum. I’ve got a 2017 F150 STX with the 3.5 eco-boost. I love the truck but have had issues with cam phasers. I’m about to take it in for its second set. My odometer is currently 43,000 miles. It’s a little discouraging and frankly I’m scared to keep this thing past the extended warranty. Has Ford addressed this in the past year and come up with a solid solution?

I haven't heard of wide spread cam phaser problems on the 2nd gen 3.5EB. That engine seems to be pretty sorted out and solid. Maybe your dealer is misdiagnosing the problem and firing the parts cannon at it.

I thought about that, but it was perfectly fine for another 20,000 miles after the first replacement.

I believe the cam phasers were updated towards the end of 2019. If yours were replaced much before that they were probably replaced with the same old design that failed on you the first time. On the bright side if you get them done again you should get the updated parts this time.

Phaser supposedly had parts updated at the end of 2019. Had mine done at about 20k in my '17 in Mar. of this year. 5k later and the new phasers are louder than the old ones. Dealership is ordering another set of parts to try again. Don't know if I got a bad set, a bad install, or the updated parts are really worse than the originals. Either way, between the phaser issue and the composite oil pan leaking, this truck has had more issues than any other vehicle I have ever owned.
