Miracles never cease. I just now went out to see if the trans "mode button" would do anything in D mode. Nope - still starts in "1" no matter what. BUT, when I put it in Snow/Wet mode and then went into M mode the "+" button put me into M2! I thought I had tried all combinations before but I guess not. The key is to hit the "+" button before taking your foot off the brake. I think I was rolling on my previous attempts.

I went from my ‘09 with 6 speed to my present ‘15 with 6 speed but with select shift now. I am so happy with being able to lock out any upper gears and also have a manual mode that I don’t miss being able to start out in 2nd or 3rd with my old one.

I live in a mountainous area and being able to lock out 6th gear on the rural 55mph roads is great. My old truck would just constantly shift between 6th and 5th and back.

Even my 2002 Ford truck will start out in 2nd gear.
