Search Tip: Use Google
So, lots of people get hammered here for not searching the forum before asking some question that has been asked and answered a bunch of times.
I'm not one of the hammers, nor one of the nails. I don't care if someone asks a duplicate question, and I'm handy enough around computers and the internet to find what I'm looking for.
Traditionally, the search engines built into forums suck. I never use them.
Pro Tip: You can use Google to search a single website for stuff by putting this in your Google search box:
site:www.f150forum.com leveling kit
I get a lot better information a lot quicker that way than any other way while on a forum.
Super Pro Tip: You can even make custom search entries in Google Chrome to make it even faster. For example, let's say I wanted to just type $f150 leveling kit in my Chrome address bar and search this form. Here's how:
When all that's done, all you've got to put in the address bar is this:
$f150 leveling kit
Chrome will do the rest.

- go to Chrome Settings
- under Search, click Manage Search Engines
- under Other Search Engines, down at the bottom, you'll see three boxes that say Add a new search engine, Keyword and URL with %s in place of query
- put F150Forum in Add a new search engine
- put $f150 in Keyword
- put in URL with %s in place of queryCode:
https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Awww.f150forum.com+%s

Yes, most search features on web forum sites are not very good. Yes, google is your pal - good tips for the search.
I don't hammer people for asking redundant questions, especially since many times it's a newbie doing the asking. I get the frustration but not for the "you're wasting everybody's time by asking a question that's already been answered" mentality. I prefer that the old thread be consulted and even revived by posting on it because it builds a history of the issue in one spot. That way any variations on the issue or multiple options for a solution can all be consulted in at once.
I have done a great deal of learning by going through multiple page threads and have been able to fix a lot of issues by taking all of those suggestions and "cures" out to the garage!

Trending Topics
Agreed forum searches usually suck and Google is better. But here are two ways to make the forum's search function more useful:
1. Search using "Show Posts" instead of "Show Threads" which is the default. Showing threads will bring up seemingly irrelevant results because there was some random post in a random thread with a matching keyword. Instead, opt to show the actual posts that have matching keywords.
2. Use the Advanced Search and search in titles only. The default is to search 'Entire Posts' which can result in similar frustrations as above. Sometimes you're only interested in threads specifically started to discuss the topic you're interested in. Note that this search option sounds very similar to #1 above but is in fact different.
