Default scratched headlights

I go these new headlights I'm going to install but the only problem I have is the one headlight is scratched up. What are some ways to get rid of the majority of the scratches.

many auto parts stores carry something like this restore kit:

not sure how well they work because I dont have any experience "restoring" my headlights.

I have however used a kit from best buy to repair the scratches on the screen of my cell, which worked actually quite well.

wet sand them with very fine sand paper and use like PlastX to smooth it out with a buffing pad

one word, Bluemagic. which is available at Autozone, that is where I get it anyway. Purchase a buffing head for your drill and go for it. Good stuff!!
For heavy duty work go here, http://www.eastwood.com/ Eastwood is a real treasure to people restoring cars and trucks. They have it all.
