Default Removing Tailgate Ford emblem

Thought this would be easy but I'm having a hard time with it.

Stupid tailgate step is in the way and the clips and double stick foam are making this seem impossible. I can squeeze the tab but in theory you have to simultaneously push the emblem out while working on each of the four corner tabs.

I don't want to push too hard to break the grip of the foam tape as I'm afraid to distort the aluminum. Is there a trick to removing the oval easily and safely? I haven;t gotten this thing to budge at all, and I did it on a hot day when the adhesive would be warmed up too.

I've googled this and found NOTHING for the 17's which have both tab clips and foam adhesive.

Thanks

Swapping the fronts and rears out for black/chrome versions.

The front emblem is already going on an XLT grille and I know all about the fun of replacing the front grille, but this rear one has me stumped.

Could you explain how you did it.
Does it just pry off from the outside or do you have to
get into the inside of tailgate to get it off?

I have a 2017 stx that I want to put custom emblem on.
That for any info

Gonna do front emblem also.

Need to remove the panel on the tailgate to gain access to the nuts hold the emblem on. On a warm day in the sun, remove the nuts then squeeze the snap clips and start pushing at the same time using a nylon trim tool. Try and start prying the emblem at the same time. Once one side seems loose try and keep prying untill you break the 3m double stick foam. Just be careful you don't want push marks in the aluminum.

Thanks for the info Rock
I had that panel off once before I ordered the emblems to see what
might be in store and it is pretty tight in there with the latch and camera
parts in the way and I don't have the step to deal with.
I'll look at it again tomorrow, thanks again.

I got the black and magnetic gray emblems to put on my magnetic truck
it should be pretty sharp, the emblem themselves are awesome looking.

Yeah it's crazy tight in there I had some difficulty getting my hands in there too, I have the step. Just keep applying pressure and pushing. You're definitely going to need a nylon trim tool to work on the badge from the outside at the same time.

Don't get discouraged, I thought it would never break loose then all of a sudden I lifted an edge from the outside and started pulling it off carefully.

Should look great!

Did mine yesterday morning, also have the step option.
I found that once you get ( 1 ) clip compressed, you can push it hard enough to get a trim tool behind the emblem. It went very easy after that..
