Default Removing broken vent visor

Broke on of my vent visors. These are the tape on style mounted to the outside of the window.
I was thinking of using Acetone to soften the tape and then use thin fishing line through it basically cut it. I was then going to use the acetone again to get the glue/tape residue off before installing the new one.
Any ideas, or suggestions are appreciated.

Your on the right track. This is what I suggest, and I remove alot of stuff from city vehicles. Carefully, CAREFULLY, pull the vent visor off. Take a little acetone and wipe over left over glue. Drive to local car wash and blast that crap off. Go back home and finish the job with the acetone. Clean the area very very good. Then wax. That is what I have found to be the best way with saving the paint. Also, 3M makes a adhesive remover. Its in a red and white can. Its pretty awesome.

Heat, too. Heating the adhesive with a hair dryer will make it come off easier.

Acetone removes paint. Use WD-40.

The 3m adhesive remover works great! It's just pricey

I used Turtle Wax bug and tar remover, Goo B Gone, and an adhesive remover. What worked best was heat and a tongue depressor. Followed by adhesive remover to get the residue. It still wasn't easy, by any means.

Goo Gone is good stuff, but it only works for the glue. It won't penetrate the tape material. Like removing wallpaper, you have to peel the glossy top to get the actual paper wet so it will come off.
