Remove Cab for Repair?
I'm in the market for a new F150 Supercrew 4x4.
I've been told, and have actually witnessed at a Ford Dealership, that the later model F150's need the cab removed for basic repairs to the engine compartment. My question is what year did this start?

I hear they gotta pull the cab to even change the spark plugs. That's how they do it at the dealer. No thanks....I will stick with my 4.2 where i can get to everything myself with the cab on. $30 for spark plugs beats $2,000
I must take issue with your statement about removing the cab to change plugs. Do a search for how to change plugs on 98-2010 trucks to see how it is done.
True, if removing the engine it is easier to remove cab first, but I don't believe that is a common occurence.
Before putting in your 2 cents, be sure you understand/ have experience with what you are talking about.

You dont need to pull the cab for anything on an F150. The 08 and up 250-550 with the diesels are the only on the Ford designed to pull the body. Every shop manual procedure for the 150 has no provision for cab removal.

It doesn't take them very long to pull the cabs off when they do. Ford has a real bad habit of stuffing as much crap under the hood as they possibly can, making it harder for us normal people to work on their late model vehicles (in hopes we'll bring them back to a Ford house). Yes it can be a pain, but it's how they choose to make their vehicles. As long as nothing breaks down on them under warranty, why would it be a major issue to begin with?
