Since i bought my truck used im guessing i might not have the alarm unit in there. Never got the after market fob from dealer. I might just have to put in my own one from ford or something. or see what i can do from ford for that. im not 100% savy when it comes to tinkering with programing locks and motor electronics.

Depends on who makes it. The biggest company is Directed Electronics and they mark their products. Most companies have the boxes labeled with the brand.

In NYC, most dealers would remove the unit from the vehicle,(depending on the mileage) as they have to warranty the vehicle for a certain length of time. I have seen these removed (I had the Viper in my Titan) by the prep team at the dealer prior to putting the car on the lot. As everyone stated, there should be a control unit under the dash, a pin switch on the hood, and an antenna (usually up by the rearview mirror)..
