Default Rear Differential Leaking?

So I have started to hear a noise while driving and it almost sounds like excessive tire noise when driving on certain types of pavement. But then I looked underneath and saw what looks like a leaky seal around the transfer case and thinking something major might be going on.

The white stuff on the floor is from salt (gotta love MN).

Any thoughts on this? Truck only has 8500 miles.

My pinion seal was leaking with only 3300 miles on it. Dealer took care of it in 1 or 2 hours under warranty. Ford called it 2 things. "Seaping" meant just wetness and they are not quick to fix it. "Leaking " means drops. I took a picture of the pinion seal are area and the 2 or 3 drops on the driveway. They immediately fixed it.

That is not a transfer case in the picture... it’s a rear diff. it’s probably low on oil and making noise...remove the cover clean and re-seal with RTV and fill her up...if it’s a limited slip add the required friction modifier.

My differential pan was leaking on the left side. Here is how I fixed mine.

Yeah I know its the diff and not the transfer case; not sure why I typed that. Anyway just dropped off the truck at the dealer since it is still under warranty so I will see what they say.
