Hi, I just got a 98 f 150 and every now and then out of the blue my accelerator goes to the floor and i have to b quick to turn off the truck. Then when I start it back up it's fine, then out of the blue it does it again.....wtf???

Sounds like a throttle cable or throttle body butterfly spring issue.

I had a late 80's Ranger that would do that with the cruise control. (The first time was right before I passed a county sheriff on the side of the road!) "Honest officer, the truck did it by ITSELF!"

Did you have cruise on?

I didn't study the entire article / listing I posted, but it appears there was a recall related to the speed control (cruise).

Bob - I'd take your vehicle and vin number to a Ford dealer to get a full maintenance history to see if the recall work was ever performed on your truck.
