I have ZERO sympathy for those whom have gotten DUI's or get lucky and do not get caught. I have seen way too many crashes, even with kids in the vehicle...
Even though I agree with your point on the drunk driver bit 100%, I do disagree with you as does the law here in CO, on the officer sitting outside of a bar.

This is not allowed by our state laws. It's some law based on entrapment. Similar to a cop parking on the side of the highway or street behind an object where you can't clearly see them. Cops are required to be seen on the side of the road, even required to have at least their parking lights on at night.

Here in CO, the police can't pull you over for just a seatbelt. They have to have another reason to pull you over (speeding, headlight out, etc), as the seatbelt is considered a secondary offense.

My worst ticket was when I was 18 (yeah, young and dumb). Got nabbed for 65 in a 35 (damn I hate Federal Heights police). Which I was lucky, cause I was north of 70mph. Can't remember the fine, but it was over $100, but less than $200. Was a 6pt hit on my license.

EDIT: I've never been hit with a DUI, but have an idiot friend who was just hit for his 3rd DUI about 2-3 months ago. He had to spend something like 30 days in jail, plus all his fines, school and court costs. I do not feel sorry for him one bit.

i got a ticket for speeding, i think it was 68 in a 40, going downhill at ~11:45 on new years trying to make it home by midnight. I was headed downhill and didnt wanna burn up my brakes, I come around a turn and theres a cop sitting at the left hand turn lane facing my direction. As soon as I passed him, he makes a U turn and pulls me over. took traffic school and got out of it

besides that I had 3 tint tickets, all within 4 months and my tint wasnt even that dark, I didnt put it on the car it was on there when I bought it so I dont know how dark it is, but my mom for one has way darker tint but never gets a ticket

Technically it is not entrapment because the Officer is not MAKING YOU SPEED! He is just hiding better and that is called good tactics. You can hide wherever you want, etc... I've known Officers to wear camo and stand near the woods with a laser and call speeds up to the Officer waiting at the bridge down the road.

i agree, its not entrapment. He doesnt make you drink and drive or speed. I was talking about something similar recently, cops that are undercover in fast cars and try to get you to race them, then once you do they pull you over. They arent making you race them, they are just presenting you the oppertunity to race and break the law. Same thing here, if he sits outside that bar then if nobody drinks and drives he has no one to pull over

8 inchs of fresh snow is normal winter driving conditions isn't it? lol
I've been pulled over for passing a cop too. Bright sunny dry day and he was going 25 in a 40 zone. I passed doing 35 and he lit me up. Let me off with a warning... wasn't that nice? Bull! Nowhere in the law does it say thou shalt not pass a cop. I wanted him to ticket me so I could see him in a courtroom.

Sorry fellas, no tickets here in nearly 10 years

However, I live in Maryland and we have these stupid seat belt laws as well. I agree, it should be MY CHOICE to wear it or not, it harms no one but myself by taking that chance, and everytime anyone gets in a vehicle they are taking a chance are we not?

Just another way to make a buck....

3 speeders and too many little tickets and warnings. i did however get guns drawn and thrown in cuffs for offroading on some private property ****in gay if you ask me. there was 8 cops for two trucks. my buddy got a UA and his gf got a wreckless cuz she was dippin away and a cop turned in front of her and she had to hit the ditch cuz there was only front brakes. i just got community service and a petty mis. they searched my vehicle without permission or a reason to search it..

Well you don't have to consider it entrapment. But the CO state law does. That's practically all that matters to me is the local law, not what you think. Fact is, he has to be in plain viewable site. Law here doesn't call that a good tactic, it's called illegal. Seen a couple people get off for it.

If you got in an accident without your seatbelt and died or were seriously injured, do you think your friends and family would hurt, emotionally that is? How about financially? Insurance company may have to pay more medical expenses because you were severly hurt, versus no injuries cause you wore your seatbelt. How about the financial burden you'd put on your family if they had to pay for your funeral?

It's not always about the physical aspect, have to include other factors as well.

hey you're a police officer, correct? well if you are can you answer this for me. last year i got pulled over, i was on a road that's speed limit was 55 and i got a ticket for doing 80, now let me explain. this police officer had apparently been behind me for a long time but he was in some undercover car that i had never seen before, it looked like some older beater car to me so i didn't think it was a cop. well this guy gets on my *** while im going the speed limit, and when i say on my *** i mean he got so close to me that i could barely even see the roof of his car in my rear view. he follows me like this for a very long time, then we go around a turn and i floor it to get away from him because i just thought it was some guy riding my ***. well when i get up to 80 and close to the county line he turns on his lights.

anywho what im asking is was it right for this undercover cop to follow me so close that at times i couldn't even see him? i told him that and he just said im giving you a ticket. funny thing about it his name was S. Raper. anyways i got the ticket dropped to 14 over because i know some people, but still i could have just mashed the brakes and he would have hit me.
