Problems with truck.
I have a 2006 fx4 with 163,xxx miles on it. I have a few problems with it that I don't know where to start at. Looking for some thoughts on what I should do.
Problems:
1. Cab corner rust on the drivers side- This is a southern truck so we hardly see any salt or anything. I knew there was a problem there and manage to poke a tiny hole in the side. Wondering how much that will cost to fix/dose that mean that something else could need to be replaced.
2. Whine in the engine at low speeds- The truck from 1-40 mph has this whine to it. For the life of me I can't figure out what it is.
3. Burns oil- The truck is burning oil at about a quart every 1,000 miles.
4. Miss firing when hard acceleration-If the conditions are right and I'm going uphill the truck misses a few times. Not enough to pull a code tho. I replaced all the coil packs about 15,0000 miles ago. This wont cost me anything because I have a life time warranty on the packs.
Im more concerned to why the truck is making that whining noise and why that rust is there.
Thanks,

I'll take a shot at this... Southern truck?? How do you know that? and where is Southern to you? Rust in the Roof? Get some epoxy and fiberglass cloth. Clean the area and plug the holes. If you want pretty let a body shop do it..
The Oil burning, run the fuel tank down till you 50 miles left then dump 3 cans of Seafoam into the tank.. Seafoam will burn the carbon out your cylinder ring lands. Flat on the floor runs till you are almost out of fuel. It will clean your engine/injectors just like if you had a dealer do an upper combustion chamber cleaning..
The Whin could be the rear end in the truck... You need to let a good Ford dealer look at this truck...
