Default Problem With Filling Up At Pump

Hello, I was wondering if anyone could help me with my 84 f150. I dropped the tank back in September (to replace the sending unit) and since then I haven't been able to use a gas pump like normal, when I go to fill it it will click the pump safety and shut the pump of after a few seconds, it also spits out the top, so basically I have to hold the gas pump barely open. I've replaced the tank vent valve and the vent line connected to the valve. Its also not connected to the charcoal canister because most of the emissions have been deleted. I would really appreciate advice, thank you!

I’ve got the same problem. I’m a 95 with one tank and it’s my understanding that likely what has happened is when the tank was replaced the breather tube is somehow getting pinched or wasn’t routed the correct way and it’s preventing the pressure that is building up in the gas tank during fill up. The pumps are high pressure pumps that really build pressure quickly in a tank, especially during hot days. So it’s my understanding also that what needs to happen is we need to drop the tank and check for that breather tube to ensure that nothing is pinched or otherwise obstructed from allowing the full release of pressure and the new fuel to go in. In the meantime, what you’ll have to do is fill up a gas can and pour it in with a funnel. That’ll slow the flow rate down and allow you to actually put gas in the tank without having to sit there at the pump for two hours with 3 gallons of gas on the ground, lol.

Make sure the burp hose next to the fill hose isn't pinched shut .
