Default Phone button with blinking blue light

Can anyone tell me what this is? I'm assuming it's some sort of bluetooth device for a cell phone. It's not stock for sure. The previous owner must have had it installed. I can trace the wires up to above the instrument cluster, then I lose them. I can certainly cut them and tape them, but would rather find where it is plugged/spliced into or if there is another part of it I can't see. I don't really want to start pulling the dash apart just for this. Also, if it's a bluetooth link, why install this instead of using sync? Anyways, Thanks!

tl;dr: What is this thing?

Bottom line: Don't know what it is.

I would agree with your assessment it is for a phone.
Have you put your phone in pairing mode to see if you could detect a new 'connection'? Give that a shot.

I would imagine that there has to be a mic somewhere in the wiring. Sound may be through the truck speakers but wouldn't be able to guess that without seeing the system.

I think it's a guidepoint stolen vehicle device. Go to the video about 2:30 in.

I just figured out what it is. It's called Guidepoint system. It's similar to Lojack. The phone button is for calling for assistance, ie. out of gas, flat tire. The other is a geofence alarm button.

I was able to locate the module for it above the instrument cluster by looking through the side panel. i guess it will all be coming out when I get home!
