First off, I do not play with a cell phone, except talking with someone, or texting. Not interested in looking like a teenager wandering around a mall somewhere.
Like most of us, I have Sync3 built in, and at present have Sirius radio I rarely use anymore.
I would like to possibly use Pandora. I've been around it in various places, and I like the personal programming it looks like is available.
Is there anyway without having to foreskin anything, and just readily use it, with the equipment I already have?
Please, explain as simple as possible, at 75 years olde my comprehension of electronic terms and acronyms do not play well with my brain.
My 150 is a 2020, and we all know Ford quit supplying our truck with CD players. I've gone as far as installing a unit from a 2018, and had another member program the foreskin for me., works very well.

Pandora (or any music streaming) is a website and app.
I thought of taking a device (cell phone) bolt-in to the vehicle as a dedicated truck computer that connects to Android Auto/Carplay and have the cheapest data plan possible. Lotta cool benefits, more appealing with overlanding/RVing perhaps. Music, GPS/maps, anything online is available, tracking your vehicle, dashcam monitoring without your dashcam being online separately, blah blah

So it looks like what I was hoping to do wouldn't work, dagnabbit.
Sounding like I still need to screw around with a phone? I suppose if that's the only way, I'll have to. As long as there won't be any hunting pecking around. I do have unlimited data, for internet etc., I think it's called?
I believe you're saying, I need the Pandora app on my phone, I can handle that. But how do I get it to play on my radio? I truly am lost at thinking this out.
How would doing that affect my phone if I were to get an incoming call? That occasionally happens.

Even though vehicles come equipped or can be retrofitted with Wi-fi and/or cell service (hot spot), they still don't have their own computer-device-OS-apps.

A safety/convenience item, if you lose/damage your primary phone....this would be a back up. Could be life saving. Just like a back up key fob that's hidden.
And, can use Apple shortcuts to route phone calls/texts to be forwarded to the dedicated truck device when driving so can use hands free. I'd have to think about it more but broad strokes seems would work pretty well. Would need to check on outgoing calls/texts. Using prepaid service could be really cheap.
From your quote:
Pandora will stop and your phone will put your call through automagically, then Pandora will start again after the call. No touching anything.
You need to use Android Auto/Carplay, it all connects/disconnects on its own with no interaction on your part.

Does sync 3 have Apple car play? I came from the 1970s sync in my old 2017 to sync 4 in my 2025, and it’s quite an upgrade.
I see on my screen, with wireless CarPlay, pandora, Spotify and all of that stuff works and you don’t need to touch your phone.
That said, does sync 3 offer that ability with any type of upgrades if it doesn’t already do that?

So, I get a subscription from Pandora, and use Android Auto/Carplay, from my phone? I use a Samsung Ultra 25, so I am on Android.
Once I'm subscribed, what are the steps I need to do. Is Android Auto on my phone or on my vehicle radio?
Believe me, I'm NOT trying to be difficult, I truly don't know the steps to do. Really appreciate the time you're giving me.

I should have done this to start with, it's just easier for me to talk "face to face" trying things like this.
I pulled up this video, is it really this simple? Geez, sometimes I embarrass myself.

Thanks for the help. I cancelled my Sirius, and subscribed to Pandora Premium, and, as a vet, I'm only $8.99 a month versus $10.99, and get 60 days free. Even loaded it on my phone the first time I tried, a record to be sure!
Now that I know what to do, I'll get out in the truck and start playing.
Guess a reliable way to charge the phone in the truck is now in order.

Glad to hear this.
Sounds like you are good to go.
SYNC 3 works, would be cool to update to 3.4 if possible.
I’ve been out of touch through you self-education, and redeeming myself from a self-imposed rough Saturday by rotating my tires at the beach today.
