Default Painting tool box

I have an aluminum tool box that my little brother got spray paint on and it looks like crap.. I want to paint it black can I just grab a rattle can and go to work?

i wouldnt ...personally i would take it to a powder coating shop...it would look better in the long run

Ok but right now I'm on the low budget with getting bothy truck and jeep fixed on a high school budget

I think you can do it yourself. Just rough up the finish (no too rough) with steel wool or wet/dry sandpaper so the paint has something to stick to. And a primer coat would help too. Good luck!

go to walmart, get 2 cans of self etching primer and 2 cans of rustoleum spray-in bedliner. 2 coats of primer, 2 or 3 of the liner. it will never come off and its like 15 bucks

Ok thanks guys I have to get some stuff together first and it's not a priority getting the truck running right and stuff fixed and my doors so they lock 1st

Me and my buddy did his almost a year ago. 2 coats self etching primer, 3 coats of gloss black. It now has 3 paint chips in it, after a year, that's all. For cheap, it works and works well. And if it starts looking like crap, respray it again.

We also didn't rough anything up, wash anything, degrease or nothin' just straight rattle can
