Hey, my name is Joey and I have a 2014 Xl Standard Cab with the 3.7l in it that I bought used almost two years ago now. It was owned by an electric company and they chose to have it painted a bright yellow. I really like the color, but I have never been able to find anywhere that can mix paint for me as the paint code doesn't ever show up in their systems, but I don't really see why it wouldn't. There's just a few little dings here and there just like every former work truck, and one day I would love to fix her up cosmetically, but it has been impossible to figure out somewhere that could mix the paint for me. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? The paint code is W6642 on the door jam sticker, which I have attached below
. If anyone can help me figure this out it would be great. Thanks!
It is just Ford Yellow, any body shop should be able to find or mix it themselves.
I don't really think it is just the regular "Ford Yellow" though because that is more of a mustard yellow, which my truck isn't. Here's an actual picture of her for better reference, the door jam picture looks more like the Ford Yellow because I had the flash on when I took it.
If it is a large company and if they do their whole fleet in that color, you might try to approach them about buying a bottle of touch up from them.
cool/unique truck
Thanks for the help, you might be right about approaching the company about it. Seems like on paintref.com Ford didn't paint them this color in 2014, so who knows really what's up. I'll definitely be doing a little bit more searching about it.
The largest construction company in my area (when I was a kid), was the James D. Morrissey Co. His Mack, Ford, Dodge & Kenworth trucks were all painted the same Forest green color at the factories. He had a big part in building the Pa. turnpike. When the old man died, they had over 100 brand new 10 year old Mack`s (green) in warehouses. They looked something like these:
No one could get that same color from the manufacturer but him. That family had some serious clout.

That's a pretty interesting story, hopefully my paint color isn't like that. I'm sure that his wealth also was a factor in getting that color though, especially since it was over 100 brand new trucks in the same color.
Do not know who had the truck new, but when you order a certain amount they can be painted any color there is so even if it was not offered in 2014 they were still able to get it with a larger order. Look at Sunbelt rentals, every company that they buy vehicles from has the same green. Our own local electric company has all of its new trucks the same color of Safety yellow as the older trucks.
BTW you said the colors looked off from the samples, Grabber Blue is the same way and without a pretty nice camera it was a hard color to capture also.

Did you ever find the matching paint? It looks like your truck and my husband's are from the same fleet. They didn't paint the tailgate (or the tailgate we got with it wasn't original to the truck) so it doesn't match. The truck dealer just did a black wrap on the hood and tailgate, but the hubs wants to remove the wrap and paint the tailgate yellow to match (and then funnily enough, tape it off temporarily and spray it black ala EVH bumblebee yellow & black guitar).
