Oncoming traffic ever hit your mirror?

Unique & Different
Ouch. I had it happen when I drove big rigs, but not in my pickup truck. Another truck smacked mirrors with mine while crossing a skinny 2 lane bridge somewhere in KY a long time ago. Thankfully it did not break the mirror out.

yep...a few years ago...my 06 f250 and a 94 or so f250 on a narrow back road...mailbox on my side which I just barely missed and our mirrors smacked each other...we both stopped...glass broken on both and pretty much the same damaged...We both agreed that no one was really at fault just two big trucks on a narrow road and just not enough room. Bought an aftermarket replacement and never looked back.

Sorry for this being a bit winded, but that's me? I had a double whammy . This was in late Oct. '11. I have a place in Burlington, WV. Out there on the back roads the locals run down them a lot faster then they should. I've had too many close calls. So I just wooo it down and if they want to tail me, so be it. I'm out there a lot more these days so they've come to know me and back off. Anyway. We left the trailer and went out to get some feed corn for my feeders. Going maybe 25mph or so. Went around a bend and here comes an old Chevy C10 pickup with those huge chrome towing mirrors they had back then. Yes the truck was blue? It was at a very narrow spot, I was already on the edge and on the grass, but here he come and SWACK! My mirror folded into the truck door and glass was laying on the ground. We both stopped and got out. He was only about 30 yds. behind me so we both looked at the vehicles and chalked it up to WV roads. His mirror was hanging by one screw and swaying, so I guess I was the luckier one. I put the mirror back into position and luckily no damage to the truck door. But I lost the lower mirror, amber signal lense and the bottom corner of the housing had a small ding. A week later, after I had already made an appointment to have it replaced, I was in WV again and we got a surprise snow storm (Oct. 29th.) of about 9-11" of icey snow. That next morning it melted down to about 5" or so but was a bit slick. We were going around to the other property to check the trail cams and such. My sister and husband went up the hill of the driveway on their 4 wheeler (about a 9% grade that peaks to about 13% 3/4 of the way up), and I started up behind them. Dummy me, forgot to put it 4WD and started to slide back down the lane. And here it comes, a small tree on the passenger side. all I could do was watch, then SWACK! There went the passenger side mirror backwards against the truck. Oh Crap! Once I put her into 4WD I went up the lane then got out to take a look. Bent the mirror back and luckily again, no damage to the door. But the mirror casing was toast. I called the dealer on Monday and told him to order a second mirror.. LOL.. So there is the Double Whammy!

Yea now you guys have me spooked... I have been running with my tow mirrors extended for a while now and worried about that for a bit until I got used to them.
Looks like I am gonna have to fold them in... Murphy's law
