Default Oncoming traffic ever hit your mirror?

well its always been on of those things thats on the back of my mind, but i never thought would actually happen. that is until it did yesterday.
I was driving down the 2 lane highway after riding the bike park at big bear and noticed a rental RV looking a little close to the double yellow. I held my ground and kept driving (mostly because I had no choice with a cliff on my right) but the RV kept going farther over the double yellow. I looked and his mirror, then at mine, and realized it was going to be a close fit!
Sure enough as he passes me, I hear a smack and plastic bits go flying all over!!
The crazy part is he just kept driving like nothing happened!
I pulled a U turn as quickly as i could and chased after him for a few miles until I got him to pull over. At first he said he thought he hit a bird and didnt realize it was another car, but thankfully he was nice about it and accepted fault so hopefully I'll be able to send him the bill and get a new mirror!

anyone else ever had this happen??

here's some photos of the aftermath:

You drive around with your tow mirrors extended on a 1/2 ton truck? I think there is your issue haha

Saying that it only puts them out an additional 2 inches, i dont think that was my problem, but yes, I had been towing a trailer the day before and never put them in after.
not sure what all the fuss over extending tow mirrors is about. That would be the point of towing mirrors...ahaha

It's never happened to me but I have always thought about it. Really doesn't matter if his mirrors are extended, as long as he's in his lane you can't hit them.

Happened to me in a 95 ford explorer. Driver swerved to miss a dead animal, took my mirror right off plus the entire drivers side. Sure liked that truck.

Not an RV but my truck hi-fived a construction sign coming home from a graveyard shift this summer that knocked the bottom mirror out.

I hope you got his insurance information instead of trusting a total stranger that was obviously lying about thinking they hit a bird.
