Oil Filter Question
Hello All,
I have a Ford F 150 2009 with a 5.4 Triton V8 motor I ordered the FL-820S Motor craft oil filter for it , I have compared it with the one that’s on the truck now and the 820S is bigger then the one that’s on it. I can’t for the life of me figure this out, I have also went to the local auto parts stores and no help there, can anyone help me resolve this matter ?
Thank you

When I had my 2010 that had the 5.4 in it, I used the FL-820S on it. When I was looking for what filter I should use, that was the one that was recommended.
Does it not fit or you are just worried that it's bigger? Could be that the one that is on it was/is the wrong one.

Interesting. I didn't think there would be that much of a difference between 2009 and 2010. Then again, mine was made in October of 2010 so maybe Ford did a slight design change then.
I went to the Autozone website and did a search on all the combinations they have for engines and 2WD or 4WD and they say the 820s will fit on all 3 engines. If you bought it used, I'd suspect that maybe it isn't the engine you think it is?
Maybe take pictures of the engine, the oil filter that was on it and the location that the oil filter goes. That may help us help you better.

How are you determining this just the fact that it is wider than what was on there? If so, have you lined up the rubber gaskets on each to see if they are the same size as that is what matters? Not the outside diameter of the filter itself.
