My every day driver is a 2012 XLT, 3.5 eco boost, super cab, 8' bed. with the heavy duty payload package. It is a great truck for my purposes--I can haul or tow anything and it doesn't ride like a stiff super duty everyday. I'm getting the first signs of rust, and repair costs are 40% of the CarMax value of the truck. So, I go online to Ford to try and build a new truck with these features. Not so fast Bubba. Ford has completely quit building the really long wheel base (163") chassis, I can't get the super cab+ 8' bed combo in anything but the lowest grade--XL--trim. I don't need 8 way electric adjustable plus heated leather bucket seats, but I would like carpet in the cab. Am I missing something on the Ford build it website? It seems like 75% of all the models are 4 door crew cabs, and I want the extra length in the bed, not the passenger compartment.
The HDPP option doesn't even exist. It looks like you have to build your own, and you don't get the heavier chassis, shocks, and suspension components. Surely there is a market for trucks that will work and still ride nicely, but Ford doesn't think so.

While I’m sure there is a market, there’s not enough of one for them to offer such configurations.
You need to look at it from their end too. If it’s not profitable, they’ll do away with it.
To respond to your other post, I would not be scared of a new truck with the 10 speed. They have a revised CDF drum by now which is what was causing the major issues.
My 2017 has the 6 speed and it’s wonderful. So smooth. But I’ll be getting a new truck this fall and have no concerns going to a 10 speed.

They stopped the HD Payload Package for the 2024 model year. They really cut down on a lot of the variety they used to offer for 2024 and “streamlined” the F150 lineup.

Just out of curiosity, when's the last time you drove or rode in a Super Duty? I just ask because a friend of mine has a 2017 and I think they ride pretty good, so does another friend's 2019 Ram 3500. The F-250 XLT comes standard with the Gorjirra and you can get a supercab with 8' bed, and the prices to me aren't too out of line with an F150.

My current truck has the 3.5L Eco Boost engine. I think it is the greatest engine ever made. It is not available in Super Duty trucks, so that kills everything except F150 models.
Lariat, 2018
XLT mid, 2022
XL, 2023 (base, only?)
I didn't want a Super Duty for the same reason*. I searched online for months to find a well-optioned HDPP. Most trucks listed online as HDPP are, in fact, not. When one is listed that is, it goes fast. If you want one, you have to be willing to negotiate long-distance and travel to get it.
*Let's not start a diesel vs NA gas vs Ecoboost argument here.

OK--With a lot of effort I might locate a used F150 with the HDPP. I previously expressed complaints and suspicions about the 10 speed transmission, and a response said the issue was resolved by replacing the CDF with an upgrade. Does anyone know when this replacement/upgrade was put into production? BTW will someone tell me what a CDF is?

Edit: be aware if this issue, as well:

I was unaware at the time I bought mine but, with what I know now, if would not prevent me from buying a used truck affected by the recall
