No battery on key fob and the f150 still run?
Hello, and Good Morning, once I realized after almost 3 years that my truck with the Keys fob (without the battery) inside a microwave in a Faraday bag (probably a cheap one), wrap in aluminum paper I went to my truck little far away and the truck goes on and once I pressed it runs. Now sometimes I can change the gear, and sometimes I can't. How does that happen without the battery on the Keys Fob that still happens? Thank You for your time. (I bought a better Faraday Box this time, but it hasn't arrived yet.)

Not sure what year you're working with but the energy on many security systems comes from a transmitter on the steering column. The chip in the key fob absorbs the energy and returns it with ID information. RFID technology. The chip in the fob, or the key, is passive.

Why do you want to block it?

If someone breaks into my truck and myself not been far from the truck all the person has to do is press on. I test it. Now sometimes once you press to start and run I can't change the Gear P (some Ford Security System)but somehow doesn't work all the time. That's why I want to block RFID.

For example, if you have the remote with you and start the truck but you get out of the truck and put the remote in the house, you can drive off and still switch the truck off and on without the remote. This is because there is a small window of time between Off and On that the system will allow without the key fob present.
