New truck-uncomfortable seats
#72
I replaced the driver seat. Seat was 475, plus about $25 in wire/parts. Seen the seats as low as $395. Scroll up and you will see my write up. Has the name of the person I bought the seat frame from on eBay. I did it myself. Easy to switch over.

Lol at guys who are saying these seats belong in a Mustang. I have a '15 mustang and those have so much more bolstering and are so much tighter. Seriously go sit in one to reset your tightness barometer.
Regarding seat comfort, I just completed a 4,400 mile road trip from GA to CA and back. 60 hours of driving over 4 days. I can't imagine being much more comfortable and I have a history of back pain. Both myself and my codriver commented on how comfy the truck was. I'm 6'4" 200lb if that matters.
How long have you had the seats? The foam definitely breaks in and gets more soft over time.

Been 15 months and 34k miles and I'm still waiting for the seat to break in and get softer. I'm 6'8 240 and having the same issues as some with the uncomfortability of the seats on my 16 xlt with the 10 way power seats. Can't find the right position of the seat when driving over 2 hours or so. May look into adding the foam that has been mentioned.

All but one of my previous trucks were Chevy’s and that is what I was going to buy again until I couldn’t sit in those seats on the then new ‘16’s. I have a back problem also so the seats are very important and I find the seats in my ‘16 XLT to be very comfortable most of the time. They are much softer and fit my back much better than the Chevy’s. I am different than some people in that I need to flatten the back out, if I pump the lumbar up that is when I experience the problem. So what I have learned over the years is I have to lean the seats back a bit and the seat can’t press against my belt which is right where the L4-L5 is. I have also found that usually the cloth seats are much softer than leather seats and these have heated seats which are great. One other plus to the Ford is I could get power heated seats on both sides with cloth in the 302A package but that would be a special order on the Chevy.

Those comparing XLT sets to Lariats, should know, they are not the same seats. The cushions are quite different. I test drove XLT cloth and the cushions are softer and not so rigid on the sides compared to Lariat. The seats between 14 and 16 lariat trim are different as well, less side bolster. More than likely those who aren't having pain issues with their legs in Lariat seats just have wider asses.

Seat modification
i Was loosing my mind with how uncomfortable the drivers seat was in my 2018 xlt SCREW sport with Center console. I recently installed Kat kin leather kit and modified the drivers seat and it is now great. I’ll start by saying that I’m a physical therapist and the ergonomics were terrible! Look, if you read this and like your seat the way it is then just move on and don’t comment. I’m 6’1” and 190lb athletic builds but the stupid sport cloth seat was hitting me at the top of my lumbar spine and leaving my thoracic spine floating with no support. I was using towels for a while to get it right and going to modify the foam when putting in the leather. When it came down to it, I didn’t modify the foam at all. With the seat back zipped open you can access the back. You’ll be looking at a suspension system made of steel like on a cot with the black seat foam in front of that. I simply put i pieces of wood thin Luann between the foam and metal support. It mak s the front surface a bit more proud and I put and additional 3 thin pieces stagger stacked up higher to complement the shoulder region. Worked great! To access the back I would suggest taking the seat out. I disconnected the battery, unbolted the seat tipped it back and undid the harness. You have to depress a button and swing open the gray retaining lever. Undo a couple of push pins Christmas trees and pull the two wire harnesses back so you can undo the
