Default New guy with a question

Hey Everyone,

Just joined the site. I have a 2007 f-150 2wd and I'm about to buy some FX4 rims for it. Now I want the truck to have a bit more clearance. My question - how do you think the truck would look if I did a 2" suspension lift in both the front and the rear? Are there any brands/types of lifts you would recommend? I'm very new at this. I just want it to look about the same height as a 4wd.

And please. Spare me the "if you want a truck that looks like a 4wd, buy one" comments!

Thanks!

My opinion, just put the wheels on it and don't worry about the lift. You will save money, on the kit and the steps you might find necessary. Besides, you already one upped the neighbor, by buying a Ford!

Oh, welcome to the site!

Have you considering going to the dark side, and lowering it instead? With some 22"s.........

Thanks, guys. Yeah, I actually considered just doing the wheels and not the lift. I may just do that. I just thought that maybe some bigger shackles in the rear and coil spacers in the front might be a simple way to lift it...

Do some searching on leveling kits, you will find pics and everything from people who have done what you are talking about... A 2" level on the front will bring you up to stock 4wd height and adding a block in the back will keep the rake...

I think that your seeing the same thing as I was when buying your truck compared to me buying mine..

Looking at it, I would spend the money and lift it around 2 or 3 inches and buy some nice rim's that make it stand out as a Nice Ride and not necessarily a mudder

Let me guess?? You love the look of the lifted trucks but aren't really into the whole mudding thing.

People on here can help you more then me but I read alot and I will say be careful of what size and brand of tires you go with. Some can really be noisy

Yeah, you're exactly right, zabree. I would never take it off road, but I want the look and clearance of a 4wd. I think that's what I'm going to do... just put on the rims and lift it a couple of inches.

Thanks for the advice, gents.

Hey Guys,

Just an update. Got some 09 f-150 rims and some new meaty 265 70r 17 Goodyears on it. Looks like a different truck now! Set me back about $1100, but I think it was worth it... what do you think??
