Combine those Infinity or JBL door speakers with these tweeters in your pillars and you win but you will find yourself turning the treble down -

I'm having trouble following this line of thought. @rsylvstr suggested speaker 90db 65w RMS which you say is too sensitive and needs too much power, then recommend a pair 93db and 60w RMS or a pair 92db 60w RMS both co-axial, and then add tweeters in the pillars?
The OP may well have separate components. KM

i was quoting the crutchfield adviser who Old GreyAss Mule says doesn’t know what he’s doing.

I would follow OGM advice as the crutchfield dude changed his tune once I pointed out the ohms concern.

rsylvstr, Do you and the OP Scovie have the premium amplified Sony system. If so (and I understand the opinion about factories/sale hype), how much usable power is output to the speakers? Is the recommendations by OGM for a simple head unit or the premium amps output. Why recommend a co-axial when the existing system is component? If you have a 700w amp powering 7 speakers at 2ohms each going to 4ohm speakers will half the power to 350, even if way over rated it's still more than a plain head unit supplies.
Not my first go round with auto sound and have installed probably a dozen+ over the decades, nor unfamiliar with ohm watt and volt ratings and efficiencies, have danced the fence between quality and quantity, Just interested in learning more all the time. KM

Thanks 2017bluetruck, Your knowledge of ohms, watts, etc is WAAAY beyond my comprehension. Which is kind of why I started this thread. Crutchfield tells me what will "fit" in my truck but matching all the watt/ohm stuff seems important. The only book I have doesn't have any tech specs so that's not helpful. I know my system is Sony with SYNC/microsoft, 8" touch screen and navigation. I would guess the speakers are 6X8 or 9 in the doors but beyond that, I have no knowledge of the sound system. I plan to take the door panel off and inspect the speaker visually before I order any speakers. Maybe I'll be able to post pics by then to show you guys what I find out. It's only 5º outside right now so I might not get to it anytime soon. I wish I had a heated garage LOL. I really appreciate all your help, you guys are awesome.
