Default Need new speakers.

I have a 2011 Platinum with the SONY sound system. The passenger door speaker is crackling and needs to be replaced. I am comfortable removing the door panels to replace them myself but not sure what speaker is in there. I contacted Ford (even gave them my VIN) and they couldn't tell me what speakers are in there. I am thinking at this point, I should remove the door panel and put eyes on the speaker itself to get the dimensions and wattage (or amps or whatever lol) correct. I am not an electrician of any kind. It's voodoo. But I think I can handle speakers. Can anyone tell me definitively what speakers to replace them with?

Its pretty easy to swap the speakers out on your truck. I did mine in a 2013.
You will have 6x8 speakers on both front and rear doors.

Do a search on you tube and you'll find plenty of videos showing how to remove the door panels and swap out the speakers.

Crutchfield advised these for my 2013 SONY system
Rockford Fosgate P1683

no need for center dash or pillar tweeter.

I put Polk Audio 5x7 coax in the front and rear doors. When I swapped out the head unit for Alpine I swapped out the coax up front for 5" Polk Audio component.

Lower impedance/higher sensitivity will get you further with the low power from the Sony system. YES, it is low power. JBL and Infinity make a few 2.5-3ohm speakers for such applications. They have less resistance to power, therefore allowing them to play louder/use the power more efficiently. www.crutchfield.com

These are the ones two different crutchfield reps recommended if you aren’t changing the radio/head/screen.

Must have been a rookie rep. At 90db sensitivity rating and 4 ohms impedance and required power of 6-60 watts, those Rockford Fosgate speakers are clearly made for high power from an outboard amp, not the low power from a standalone headunit or most oem vehicle amps, including Sony, B&O, Bose, etc.

then im glad I didn’t pull the trigger.
seems like a lot of people are happy with them.

maybe something here
EDIT: need to filter for 2.5-3 ohms

Thanks for the replies! Old Grey Mule you seem to really know your stuff. Those are exactly my concerns, wattage, db, sensitivity, etc. I know there are a million speaker options out there, but to just guess what the speakers are that match my system is risky IMO. There seems to be an "outboard amp" under my passenger rear seat but I am not 100% sure what that big plastic box that says Sony on it is. LOL. That crutchfield link is awesome but it has so many options that "fit my door" 5-¼" Round to 6X8's. I think I am just going to have to take the panel off and pull the speaker that's in there. I am hoping there will be numbers on it to match something up.

Thanks again for all your help and comments. I'll keep you posted. (FWIW, I won't be doing this today LOL)
