NAV Acting Up

NAV Acting Up
The last couple days while using the NAV system I've noticed that the red arrow indicating my position has been "off" enough to cause the system to constantly attempt to compute new routing info.
Anyone else experience this? This is on a 2014 F150 FX4, I've owned the truck for about 3 weeks now so I am not entirely familiar with the NAV just yet and am now wondering whether or not there is an update required - I have not been able to determine this yet either.

I had similar issue..unplug battery of truck... wait 10 min... disconnect both leads...
after 10 min touch them together it will clear any and all codes and such left in capacitors in the system ... re connect pos first then neg and it will hard reset the truck
my remote start acts up from time to time and this fixes it
dealer had no idea why it acts up and nav too but just knows that the ahrd reset to the whole system fixes it

It may have to do with your location also. Mine is pretty reliable except right around my house. (Fortunately I know where I live pretty well - lol!) I'm out in the sticks and I know it has "incomplete map data".

Thanks for the replies. I am pretty sure location isn't the issue, this is happening when I am on major interstates, from what I can tell, this is a Ford problem with their NAV/Sync system persistent in all vehicle models running the system.
There are a few things I can try, hopefully they'll work.

Did you happen to install bigger tires by any chance? Myself and a few friends bought 2013s around the same time. We all leveled and installed larger tires as well. We all had NAV issues. I don't want to say I was the first but I was one of the first to disconnect my battery and it fixed the issue. I was even contacted by Ford Serve on here a few times since then to see if it's still working. 27K miles since installing larger tires and NAV is still working fine.
Ford developed a system called Dead Reckoning. It uses wheel speed to help calculate your location if the NAV GPS signal is weak and or lost. Well it seamed as though that installing larger tires caused the NAV to used the Dead Reckoning system over the GPS location. Once you unhooked (I only did neg) resets something and causes the truck to use the GPS over the Dead Reckoning.
I did a lot of research when having this issue because the dealer said after 3 different trips it wasn't there problem, put stock tires back on.
I went as far as finding the person that was credited with the patent for the Dead Reckoning and contacting him. I got as far as his secretary, never heard back from him.

Wayne, yes, I did put larger tires and front level on, but it worked fine for a week after doing that. I'm not 100% calibrated on the tire/speedo combo, still working on that. I probably need to get that straight before attempting the reset trick.
Funny, I can go buy a Garmin/TomTom or other GPS device for $100 that works under nearly any circumstance, in fact it only fails in long *** tunnels, lol, yet this overly complex overpriced system in the Ford fails due to a 1-2" difference in tire diameter, pretty sad.
Thanks for the tip, will give it a shot soon and update with results.

Can't state for certain but I believe the system may calibrate "on the fly" to an extent. May be why the larger wheels cause problems. Speedo says one thing but the satellite is telling it another and eventually the difference is too much to overcome?
That would also explain why a complete "reset" holds. It calibrates to the new tire size?
