Default Multiple flavors.

So it appears there are ELEVEN different versions of the F150 available today:

XL, STX, XLT, FX2, FX4, Lariat, King Ranch, Raptor, Platinum, SVT, Limited.

Anyone have any idea which version is the most popular.???

Only other vehicle that I can think of that compares (???) is the venerable Porsche 911:

Carrera, Carrera S, Carrera 4, Carrera 4S, Targa, Targa S, Turbo, Turbo S,
911 R, 911 GT3 RS.

Realize it's certainly not an apples-to-apples comparison. But I guess it does prove that once you have it right, you can spin off a lot of variants and people will still line up to buy them.

are you talking 2016? I have not seen the STX in the newer models. I have seen the "sport", is that the same thing?

Is the FX 4 a distinct type? I thought that you could get that package on any trim. I think I looked at a King Ranch that was Fx4. But I agree. The F150 has to be one the most successful line of products in the history of business.

Personally if I could afford it I'd have several trims at once. A standard cab XL for the work truck maybe an FX4 for off roading. Limited for nights at the opera 😜. King Ranch for long road trips. 😀

Just looked it up and the XLT is the most popular trim. Don't know sales figures.

Anybody have the sales breakdown of the trim levels? That would be interesting.

I don't know what list you got those from, but this is what's available for 2016

XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Limited

Around where I live, I see a lot of XLT and Lariat.

My local ford dealer has on the lot (not necessarily what's most sold)
XL: 5
XLT: 24
Lariat: 15
Limited: 1

There are also the sub models. I know here in Canada we have the XLT, XLT-FX4, XLT-XTR, XLT sport & XLT Chrome appearance package. So many options..... I believe in the states you also have a "Northern Edition" or something like that as well. And south of the border, LOBO.

there are a lot of regional and dealer special packages, But I wouldn't consider those "models" or even "submodels". just appearance/equipment packages.

Yes, more-so "Packages" within the model then. None of which I mentioned are dealer specific though. XLT comes standard with the chrome package, Sport appearance, Sport special edition & XTR would be the packages. FX4 is just an add on option now.

What would you consider Sub model to be? XLT, Lariat etc.. from F150?

I never said any of those you mention were dealer specific. I simply stated that there are dealer specific packages and they probably shouldn't be considered "models"

I would consider the "model" is F-150. XL, XLT, Lariat, etc. are "Trim". You could call these "sub-models" if you like.

FX2, FX4, FX6, XTR, chrome, sport, etc. are all equipment groups or "packages"

It's all semantics really. The OP doesn't mention "model" or "sub-model". He says "versions"
