Mixing e85 & gas
Haven't tried it - don't have any vehicles new enough :-)
Suggest that by its name alone - FlexFuel - it should have some smarts built-in somewhere that determines what mix it is burning - from straight unleaded to E85 and all points in between.
The mileage / fuel economy issue has been beat on several times in several threads here. My opinion - and it's exactly that, no real world experience here - is that E85 can deliver improved performance due to its higher octane rating, but worse fuel economy due to its lower BTU per gallon content. Suggest one should see mileage of E85 to be about 75-80% of regular unleaded.

that would be like putting a can of milwaukees best in a fifth of wild turkey rare breed....... need i say more..people think they are saving money by using e85, but you get worse mileage, cant prove it but dont believe it isnt good on your engine or else ford wouldnt say to switcih it after 2 tanks...
Back when gas was outragous I tried it. My mpg dropped 2-3 mpg. gas was near 4.00 a gallon and E85 was selling for 2.88 a gallon i guess I saved at the time it just didn't seem worth it.
The only reason there is 15% gas in it is so you won't drink it.......

I dont mind getting a little less MPG if it costs less but if they are gonna price that crap the same, then no way do i want to buy it. GM is gonna try to have 50% of their vehicles that they make E85 optional by 2012. I couldnt find anything on Ford. I just like the fact that the farmers in this country are gonna have a new source of income now that Ethanol is in production.
All the gasoline around my way is up to 10% ethanol by volume, but is not priced proportionately lower. All I can see from its use is a reduction of fuel economy of about 5%.

We have the yellow handled e-85 pumps at most every station in these parts.
When reg gas was 4.00+ a gallon the e-85 made sense even with the lesser fuel economy. but now, reg is around 2.00 and e85 is still near 2.50!
So much for making sense!
Not too many folk around here want the stuff anymore (except the tree huggers) and the stations are trying to recoup their expenses for putting it in their storage tanks.
