Mirror Wiring

I originally posted this in the 97-03 forum, but did not get a proper response, so I have copied it to this general forum with the hopes of getting more responses.

I have an 03 screw fx4 4x4 with the 5.4L engine. It currently has the regular power mirrors on it and I want to change them out to tow mirrors as I occasionally haul a trailer and have a hard time seeing past it in the mirrors now on the truck. The mirrors currently are electric only, no defrost, no directional/puddle light. I pulled the interior trim panel off to check the type of connector and also to see how many wires the connectors have, as I have heard that some have only three and some have six wires. What I have is three wires on the mirror side and six wires on the harness side. Does this indicate that I could easily switch over to tow mirrors that are heated, even though I do not have a defrost button.
Any info will greatly help. Heated mirrors are not a major concern, but it would be nice to have in the fall and winter.

Additional info: I do have the Ford Factory wiring diagrams that show the schematics as well as the pin-outs on the connectors, and they only show 4 wires in a ten pin connector, three wires for the power mirrors and one wire for directional. This is for both sides, mirror side and harness side, however I have six wires on the harness side and on the connector pinout diagram, it does not show the option for heated mirrors although it does show it for an 02 f150, but pinout is in different locations.
