Oil change time limits
If you don't put 5,000 miles on your truck and it uses a synthetic blend, can you wait a year before changing it if hasn't been run in rough conditions. My service advisor told me I could go a year. Most say 5,000/6mos or whatever comes first. Your thoughts please.

It keeps in the CC. The 98 went 8 years on an oil change. Began driving it more often , put another 100,000 on it. At 350,000 miles now...that engine still doesn't use oil between changes, it's a 5four fluke lol. Kids using the truck now changing every 3,000. Strictly the Blend and FL820s's fer life. Never go by time, unless your short tripping or idling the dang thing every few months lol. - Miles matter for the crank. It's air tight...tight enough!

If you're using a good quality national branded oil, one a year will be fine. I am speaking in terms of the oil maintaining its intended qualities to protect your engine. You didn't say anything about your driving habits. If you do a lot of short runs or extenuated idling, you will need to change the oil more frequently. Short runs, you will start to build moisture in the oil from condensation. The engine oil will not get up to full operating temp and evaporate the water. Extended idling will cause excessive fuel dilution, reducing viscosity and depleting/diluting additives.
