I have family that lives in the mountains of West Virginia. Just outside of Charleston. Have been there a couple of times during the winter and I can see why you guys get tired of it lol. I like the cold and enjoy treating myself to a couple of snowy days.

Yes, West Va. can get nasty. I noticed you said mountains, uh, where isn't there a mountain there. The only flat ground there is where US35 runs along a river!!

A couple snow days a season isn't that bad, you're right. But if you have to work in it, it gets old pretty quick.
What's puzzling though, is why we choose to stay where it gets bad. I bitch and whine every year, but wouldn't go anywhere else really.LOL
Must be something in the air.

Our last winter in New Orleans consisted of 3 days worth of wind chill in the 20's. Besides that it was shorts and short sleeve 70° weather

And that's why I love Houston. I can deal with 100 degree summers with 90% humidity, but when it gets below 50 outside, I get miserable! People from other parts of the country laugh at our 30 degrees and how cold we say it is, but they don't understand the role humidity plays. It won't kill you or cause you to lose fingers/toes like the misery that is -F temps, but it cuts through any amount of layers you can put on.
