Default Magnetized bed?

Ford F-150, Ranger, Super Duty May Soon Feature A Magnetic Truck Bed (musclecarsandtrucks.com)

From muscle cars and trucks:
"According to a series of USPTO documents first discovered by MC&T, FoMoCo is exploring several ways to secure bed loads using magnetization. The documents detail embedding a set of magnets within the truck bed that could be used to create a magnetic field that would not only change the level of magnetic force applied but also be capable of rotating and moving relative to each other in order to create a magnetic field that encompasses the entire bed floor or just sections of it. Ford proposes either a simple handle could be used to rotate the magnets, or a more involved servo motor, drive wheel, and belt system to actuate rotation automatically."

There are 3 million Americans with pacemakers and another with ICD's implanted. Who would assume the liability for death for those die?
If it's strong enough for secure items the bed, what if a medically implanted magnetic field sensitive device it's in the areas. Like if a person with one parks in a parking lot next one and gets put the the vehicle and Literally right next to the active magnetic field literally only 2 feet away? Will if any adverse or fatal implications would occur and who would be liable? Just curious

Hey,
You could energize it and stick the roof of a parking garage creating extra spaces underneath!

Based on some of the action films, we have learned that a strong magnet can offer great destruction. Like bringing a vehicle to a hault.

The MPG ratings will probably drop on vehicles as the motor will have to work harder to overcome the side-effects caused by the magnets.

Seriously though:
I'd be more concerned about shielding and testing. Like mentioned above, pacemakers. I have no idea if a magnet affects a pacemaker but I'm sure there are things that a magnet doesn't play nicely with.
Are memory sims in cell phones okay when waved past a magnet? What about mechanical hard drives in your laptop. I see contractors sitting there at lunch enjoying Burger Chef burgers on their tailgate inputting data to their laptop. Does setting the phone and computer on the magnet wipe the device, or at least cause issues?

How strong does a magnet has to be to hold cargo? Is it meant to hold a small compressor in place or a bag of groceries. Does it affect the steel shank of a boot or a persons pocket knife clipped ot a belt or pocket? Our key fob for the Platinum and Limited contractors?

What type of system is used -accessory crates that work with the magnet system -offer various accessories like milk crates or larger/smaller totes? I see it as somewhat propriatary to use certain storage devices. Of course anything from harbor freight would be a great addition to the accessor pool.

Neat concept for sure. Back in the day I would have definitely loved a way to put groceries just behind the tailgate.
I can see a storage tote being useful for dirt bike riding, throw my gear in the tote and have it stick to the floor.

Not to mention the huge electronics in these trucks, GPS, compass, etc.

If you have ever taken a hard drive apart, they have magnets in them already. Some are pretty strong that if you put the 2 together the only way you are getting them apart is to slide them apart. You cannot pull them apart or off of anything metal.
