The 5.0 is a fine engine. Good power in mid and upped rpms but large low end torque deficit compared to eb. If u drive conservative ths eb should get 1 -2 mpg better.
Drive it and see if you like the power curve. I would get a 3.55 axle for a 5.0 thats mostly hwy. I think the 3.31 gears are too weak imo.

Is it only the 3.5 EB that pumps V8 sound into the cabin? It's funny how often people ask me, in my 3.5 eb, "How big is the V8 in your truck? It sounds bad-***!"

I had 2 of the 5.0's and currently have an 3.5 EB.
The first one had the 3.73 and the fuel economy was in the mid teens, 15-16 for overall driving.
The second one had the 3.55 gear and I was averaging 17.5
The current one has the 3.5 EB with 3.55 is only 5500 miles old and all winter driving but averaging 18.9 all of the numbers are penciled.
The computer is close but never have trusted them to be accurate because the first road trip in the EB computer stated I was getting 22.5 mpg all highway 200 miles @ 65mph and it penciled at 21.4 with only 1200 miles on the clock.
The first 2 were old bodies 2012 and the current one is the 2016 so the weight may be different.
Really liked the growl of the 5.0 but the 3.5 will literally leave them in the dust. Yes my buddy that bought the FX4 with the 5.0 3.73, I took him from the start and he couldn't believe it. only went to 75 but the Eco was still pulling hard on him.
My next one will be the 2.7 EB or the Diesel. Just to see what they are like.

Must be because mine definitely doesn't sound badass..lol. Im getting more and more used to it though and when I hammer down in it the sound doesnt matter becasue even if it is the smaller engine it will **** and get.

There might literally be a thousand threads on 3.5 vs 5.0, and honestly they both can be equally as reliable if you take care of it.
