lockers are used mostly for climbing over things or terrain so discombobulated that you get your rubber in the air. Think slower speeds. Disengages at 25mph. I wouldn't pay more for it if you don't need it. I opted out of the FX4 package because I knew I wasn't going to need that. Same idea.

 

I live in the snow.....only time I have ever used my locker was pulling out another stuck vehicle (it was heavier than I was so I needed 4x4 and locker / they were inexperienced in the situation).
Since you are looking at 4x4 I would say you don’t need the locker, with 2x4 I would say it might be nice just in case.

 

Ha! 90% of truck buyers in my area don’t even tow anything. He’s working hard to upsell you.

Just get the one you want most. You might also consider chatting with a different dealer.

 

A salesman will say what ever he can to sell you a vehicle. Create a need - your truck might devalue with in 3 months. Once you sign it's on to the next customer. A salesman is only as good as his last sale.
Remember the salesman needs to sell you a truck. You Dont need to buy his truck. You are in the drivers seat. Be prepared to stand your ground and walk if you don't get the deal you want. You would be very surprised how many sales people won't let you off the lot with out a Hail Mary attempt at making a deal. Wait for what you want and you will get it.

 

Spring for the locker. We get lots of snow and it can help when that one tire gets stuck on a slippery patch.


Mine is a 2wd tho. But If I got the 4x4, id get the locker as well. Its handy to have and lock down when you need the total grunt instead of putting it in 4x4 and hoping the system can figure out which tire has the grip quickly. Its pretty inexpensive option.


All that being said, that dealer sounds like a douche. Move on to another dealer. If they want your business they will get what you want. Resale.. Funny how they talk about selling it off when you haven't even bought it yet. Who said you were going to resell it?

I talked to dealer this am and told him that I dont need the package and its a waste of money for me. The XLT 302A already has basic towing on it, dont need the tow package. Anyways with that being said I am just going to build it and lock and work out at deal tomorrow. I am going to get what I want and feel I need so at that point I will be content with decision. If that guy starts to jerk me around I will just go somewhere else.

My plan is to hold on to the truck for a while, like you said plasma..I dont even have it yet.
