The factory lock is easily punched out. The added Master lock is just that extra step enough to deter a thief to target easier pickings. The hose clamp is also easily removed with a flat head screw driver and a small ball peen hammer.

So do I, that's why I'm going for the Pop and Lock. Security isn't my first priority, convenience is.

Hardest part is mounting the actuator. They sell kits, but they are pricey.

Locate the two wires for the passenger door and splice your two wires from the new actuator on to it and there you go. There are more complicated ways to do it, but aside from the mounting, its a two wire install.

Yea I figured as much... I have an extra actuator from an install I did on a car. Id prob wire it to the drivers door so I only need one push. Thanks!

Had one on my truck. Had to take tail gate off recently and was rusted shut couldn't even get the key all way in. Hit it with pb blaster and such no luck. Had to take hammer and flat head to break it apart to get off.

Make sure you lube them up regularly. Or don't live in salt states lol.

I just ordered the Pop n Lock kit for mine. $87 US through Amazon.

That way, at least it will lock and I won't have to think about going to it with the key all the time.

This cost my dealer $20,000!

PRINCETON, WV (WVVA) Police are searching for two white males responsible for stealing 20 thousand dollars worth of tailgates from Ramey Ford and East River Auto Motors in Princeton.
According to deputies with the Mercer County Sheriff's office, the two men stole eight tailgates from the dealerships and a camper top from a Toyota. Deputies also added that the suspects used a lifted Dodge pick-up truck with after fog lights on the front.
If you have any information on this case please contact Corporal E.P. Parks with the Mercer County Sheriff's Office.
