Default Lock your tailgates people!!!!!

A coworker/friend of mine called me last night to tell me the tailgate off his 2015 White Platinum Pearl F350 was stolen :-O

He went to the dealer he purchased his truck from to get a quote for a new one. The total was $5230 For Tailgate + $650 For Paint + Taxes. So after everything it's looking like a 6K mistake. Granted insurance is covering it but for a $0.50 hose clamp or a $20 lock could have saved him a lot of head ache!

The lock actuator addition is also a cheap feature to make you sleep easier at night!

Yep they popped a guy down here in Florida a while back that had over 200 tailgates in his backyard. Luckily my dealer warned me to lock mine when I bought it so I wasn't one of the unlucky ones .

That could get posted everyday and people will still not lock or secure their tailgate.

Crackheads will steal anything to buy drugs. Damn shame they won't work like everyone else. They get caught and they're right back on the streets.

This has been a phenomenon for over 10 years around my area. Tail gates are reaching the 5K mark? No wonder they take it, it is super easy to steal. For the poor man's tail gate lock just use a hose clamp, thats what I had on my last truck!

I got a tail gate lock now.
But I'm still going to go outside to lock the latch now just to be sure lol

Take a hose clamp and put it around the hinge won't stop them but if you get the screw in the right place it will damn sure take them a while to remove it.

The part where you can pull the tail gate out, usually dealers put a tail gate "lock"

Much like this

The average person going to steal a tail gate won't have a wrench set or screw driver so a hose clamp will function the same:
