You initially said you were quoted $1900 for a four inch kit. Who quoted that, what manufacturer, and what options?
Your comments and concerns are indicative of someone who’s new to all of this. Nothing wrong with that, that’s a common reaction from a new customer. But try and think of it all like this... just adding a couple inches of leveling, takes all of your existing, factory frontend and driveline components right up to the limits of their ability.
To go beyond a couple inches requires lots of other things, in order to make everything function properly and within their capabilities. The driveline and cv/axle shaft angles, and steering geometry all need to be adjusted, and that’s what the other components included in the lift, will accomplish.
Yes, at the end of the day, the cost for four inches is much greater than just two inches. But you’re also improving the vehicle capability, in addition to just an aesthetic feature. The truck will not only look like it has bigger tires and a better stance, but it will also be able to handle those bigger tires. But contrarily, it also doesn’t mean you instantly went to a trophy truck, offroad race-ready machine, but your driveline, front axles, and frontend geometry will be correctly mated to those bigger tires.
I’ll also add that, once most people go to a four inch lift, they soon regret not going with the six inch lift. Both options require the same effort, and almost the same cost as the four inch. For example, the Superlift six inch kit is currently $1108, and will allow you to go up to a 35” tire on 10” wide wheels. But you’ll also benefit from having more clearance, on the 33” tires also, with the option of wider wheels later. It’s something you really should consider, because it’s not as simple as just adding two more inches later. And it’s not like that extra two inches turned it into some impractical, oversized vehicle, that’s difficult to maneuver. It just sounds like a lot right now while you’re hyper focusing on it. So unless you have parking/garage limitations, I’d urge you to at least consider the six inch option. Hope this helps!

I don't regret 4 inch because 6 inch and 35s doesn't look as good. And one could also say most people would agree. Too much gap between the body and tires. And being under 7ft I can still get into car washes.

I work at an electric cooperative so the parking lot is full of trucks, most have levels and look very nice, there are two trucks there with 4" lifts that also look great but I will tell you that I have heard from all of them that they love the way their trucks look until they are parked next to mine or anyone else's with a 6" lift. With that said a leveled truck is much easier to get in and out of without a doubt!
I have owned several trucks and always done a level and was very happy with them, never went over 2" and you can't beat the price but like others have said if you are going to do an all out lift I would only go 6" and mine goes through the car wash with no issue, you just need to check some fit some don't. A buddy of mine has a 2wd GMC with a 6" lift and it looks sweet, best of luck.

Thanks for everyone's input...for now went with the 2.5 leveling kit.....now on to tires...looking at 33s or 35s ....what is the height I will gain with 35s over 33s? Thanks again.

why not 35s....just curious as to why you say that...rubbing? Or won't look good.
I'm also trying to figure out if I should stick with 20 inch rims or got to a 17 or 18....wjat would be the good and bad of sticking with 20 or going down in size.
