Letter to Ford
Totally worthless, they take the same info from you that you can enter in the website. They have no authority and only push info.
FWIW, I think its totally reasonable for a $40k product to last for over 100k miles before catastrophic failure. I could have understood replacing worn engine parts or even an engine rebuild. But for the thing to blow up with zero warning is totally unacceptable.
Clearly Ford doesn't think so, and I'm not even asking them to do anything about it. I accept that I pulled the short straw with this truck, and am resigned to bend over and take it. But it was cathartic for me to bitch about it on the intrawebs, and at least broadcast to Ford from as many channels available that I'm totally disappointed in their product. And maybe I can help some others avoid the mistake of buying a Ford truck.

I have been driving Fords for 25 years and I agree--the quality has gone south. I put well over 150,000 on my Rangers and never had a single issue. Marketing doesn't help--I remember the same EcoBoost torture tests. However, if these engines truly lasted 100,000 miles without issue then Ford would have warrantied them for that long. Chevrolet dropped their warranty to 60k miles as well last year I think.
It is almost becoming a race to the bottom as far as quality and dependability are concerned.

You're absolutely correct, and I'll never buy another vehicle without one. Lesson learned the hard way.
Doesn't mean the situation isn't total bull**** because that kind of failure shouldn't have happened. You can't tell me that anyone ever drives off a lot these days with a $40k truck expecting it won't easily give them 100k reliable miles without blowing up into a worthless hunk of metal with no warning. This isn't a Fiesta, this is Ford's flagship vehicle. Clearly, my expectations were incorrect, but I still submit they were not unreasonable.
