Leaf spring bushing removal
Anybody have any tricks to remove a rusted shackle bolt and the bushing in the leaf spring without using a torch? My gas tank has a leak and i don't want to take any chances with a open flame. Thanks
My uncle tom would have called the tool a "percussion wrench".
Use the wrench until your arm is tired, have a beer & rest, then repeat.
If you can get a sawzall blade in there and cut the bolt, drop it then use a cold chisel to bang it out.
Angle grinder, rotozip with grinder attachment, dremel prob a bit light in the pants for the job.
You could drill straight thru the center of the bolt and use
progressively larger drill bits.
Use a gear puller.
All kinds of ways, depends on what tools u got.

I've had this problem before. I used a sawzall to cut the bolt and jacked the frame up to get access to the bushing without removing the whole spring, then used drill bits to put holes in the bushing to the point I could pull it all out. Then had to clean up the rubber stuck to the spring with a wire brush on a drill, and sandpaper. Otherwise, I'd remove it from the truck and use a torch.
Looks like one of those "no easy way to get there jobs" ahead. I guess I'll just jump in and see what works. I don't want to mess with the front shackel or spring mount at this time so the spring must stay on the truck.
