Lead Frame Recall
If they hadn’t changed anything other than the intervals, I think it could be mitigated to a minority. Just sayin…
It’s like the timing chain wear on ecoboosts, should ford be responsible for that even though the problem is (mostly) resolved with more frequent oil changes and decent oil?

What folks here may be overlooking was the lead frame "fix" a few years back when it was realized that over 1.5 million vehicles are/were/can be affected by this.
The fix included with a new FoMoCo 6R80 lead frame is/was a closed cell foam gasket in an attempt to better prevent carbon shed in the fluid from contaminating the solenoid wire connection leads.

I had the issue occur with my 2016 Lariat going down highway at 65 on April 16th 2026. Truck downshifted to maybe 3-4th gear from 6th. Little wrench light came on. Managed to get home restarted and issue reset. Took down to Autozone and had code read as a P0722-00. Output shaft speed sensor circuit no signal. Read online bad idea to drive even if the issue reset.
Took the printout from Autozone with me and left truck at dealer on the 17th. I did some research and found an article about the recall coming out two days before. Handed this info to dealer.
Dealer verified that was issue and ordered new lead frame. New lead frame installed and out the door today 4/21/26.
Out of pocket $2,700 ….. since the recall is so new and only a “notice” as of now I will have to file for reimbursement. Sounds like typical BS but that’s the cards I’m holding.
What the dealer and I read was if the issue had to be fixed prior to the recall “fix”, then a new lead frame could be installed to repair the issue and covered by the recall. The “fix” software update won’t be out till July. Software would not have fixed anyway as tech found sensor intermittently shorting out.
Once I receive my notice in the mail I can get it to dealer and start reimbursement process. Something like that not sure exactly. What a pain in the ***. Checked today and my vin number now indicates I have an open recall.
if you have receipts and other documents stating you had paid to have this issue repaired you can be reimbursed. So they say…..

Am I correct that to fix the lead frame you replace the valve body? It seems the recall doesn’t really fix the issue it just keeps the truck from downshifting to far at highway speeds and causing an accident. Seems like they are taking the cheap way out. Is the valve body replacement difficult for a do it yourselfer? I’ve done it before bit it was years ago.

A yes, the recall is only to stop the truck from downshifting. They did the exact same thing originally on 09-13 6r80, then updated and added 2014, now, finally they’re adding 15-17.
My bill was higher than I had expected. They replaced entire valve body w/ lead frame. Dealer never discussed it with me. It may be there was not a lead frame to be had except as the body with frame.
"Just read today that Ford has finally decided to do a Lead Frame recall on 2015-2017 F150s with the 6R80 transmissions. Took them almost 10yrs to do it. SMH!
Ford should refund the $1300 I already paid to get it replaced."
Same situation here .

Got my recall notice today. Funny it says no remedy is available when it's a software update. Of course...lol....my wifes Bronco Sport has had an open recall since last July for a software update.
