Default Iphone 4 does not work with sync?

Hello. Just purchased 2011 f150 this week. Dealer set my iPhone up with sync. Phonebook etc loaded. But nothing works. Went to sync home page and got on chat. Guy says known problem and nothing can be done. No known fix and none coming in the short term. Is this a
Problem for everyone with the iPhone? Is it better just to scrap and install aftermarket stereo? If so, which is the most popular for the f150?

Thanks for your help

George

Thank you. I will give this a shot. I have been deleting and reinstalling per the sync folks and the dealer. Hope your solution helps.

You might have to get an aux wire to plug in your iphone and to the connection next to your Sync USB port. Then have to "line in" This is how I have mine. Thought it was all Bluetooth but not
Hope this helps

There is nothing you can do about it. iOS-4 does not work with Ford Sync. It has to do with the bluetooth and USB functioning at the same time. the iPhone will work as a phone, forget SMS, or MMS or as an iPod Touch not both. If you want to use the music functions you have to turn off bluetooth which cripples the phone, keep Bluetooth on and you have little control over playback. It sucks big time. However if the information coming from the developers Beta testing iOS-5 is true the new operating system fixes most of problems, except, apparently it still Does not appear to support SMS, or MMS, with Sync. I think this is a Apple decision. they don't want iPhone users killing themselves trying to drive, chew gum, and text message at the same time. Having watched idiots careening down the road trying to drive and text messaging all at the same time I don't think this is a bad thing. iOS-5 will be released in a bit more then a month from now so be patient it would seem the help is on the way, we will see just how much help that will be. A new "radio" will make no difference.

One interesting thing coming in the very near future is the iPad replacing the information/navigation screen on the Ford center console.
there will be a docking cradle to snap your iPad into. the Idea is all of your navigation information, music, information files, and digital communications stuff will reside in your personal iPad which you take with you from vehicle to vehicle.

Is anyone able to receive audible text notifications? Mine will vibrate but will not make any noises at all.

This is a part of SMS/MMS functionality which does not work with Ford Sync.
There is nothing to be done about it at this time so don't waste your time looking for a fix. I know it is a total PIA but short of getting a blackberry, Android, or a Mobile 7 phone there is nothing to be done for it. From where I am looking I think it is up to Ford/Microsoft to fix the problem. Apple is the big boy on the block, the Godzilla of smart phones. Ford would increase sales if they fixed this. Apple on the other hand is selling all they can make they don't need to do anything at all. This is going to anger some people but these are the facts of life.
