I have a Walmart Battery in the Mustang and the F150 and the last 2 Interstates I bought went bad in my F550 in about 2 years and the replacements got sold with the truck so I don't know how long they lasted.
I also now have a NOCO Genius 7200 that I put on my battery at oil change time and desulfate the battery overnight.

This guy does some interesting stuff. Interstate is not in there, but you might see a reasonable choice.

costco is only place I’ll buy batteries, tires, oil, and if/when at all possible: gas.

Don't forget about Sam's Club too. They have the 3 year replacement warranty and my experience there has been excellent. They have properly reset the BMS on my 2013 F-150 two times now. Hard to beat the prices. That 2013 does sit for several weeks in the winter. I replace the battery every four years and for only about $120 each time seems like a bargain.

Just put a Walmart Everstart Maxx in my 2013 after 8 years on OEM battery, reset the BMS with FORScan. I also plug into my Battery Tender Plus.

I purchased my new Interstate battery from Costco several months ago. Everstart and Interstate are manufactured by Johnson Controls International. Johnson Controls merged with Tyco International back in 2016 or 2017, which resulted in the addition of International to their name. I guess time will tell if the company made any changes to the design.

The problem with battery (and other items) tests like this is that the retailers switch manufacturers every few years and also the designs change frequently. So what was a great battery a few years ago might now be a complete piece of crap made by a different company! The original Odyssey battery compared to a modern Odyssey batteries is a great example. Also models made for one vehicle might be made by a different manufacturer when made for a different vehicle, even if sold under the same brand name. A lot of chain brands buy from several different manufactures.

Good points. Today's world is all about marketing. Say the words, don't worry about backing them up. Walmart, Oreilly, Autozone, etc. don't have to worry about marketing.

In the video the cheap batteries were the best.

Motorcraft sells batteries with 36 month free replacement and after that is pro-rated to 100 months.

My advise to the O.P. is to shop for warranty as an indication of T.C.O. Buy the battery with the best warranty at the best price.

I have big problem with generalization based on battery manufacturer. The Big 3 domestic automotive starter battery companies will build any quality for any buyer. We have no idea what tier Interstate orders from their vendor. Or what Walmart Everstart orders. We know the manufacturer will use exactly the same case and terminals with a multitude of different quality guts. Very easy to alter the alloy of lead used.

It may well be the best quality battery costs $42 to build and the lamest costs $41. We consumers would like to think we could get that best battery for only $1 more but that is not how marketing thinks.

Because it is impossible for mere mortal consumers to know what quality of battery is offered our best bet is to shop for warranty. How many months of free replacement? How many months of pro-rated replacement? Make the vendor bet on the quality of product you are being sold.
