Default Is Interstate still good?

The plandemic destroyed my battery from lack of driving. My normal work trip was 120 miles RT, and well, working from home, while it has advantages, the truck sat for months not being started and eventually killed a cell in the battery so time to replace it. With the price of this particular battery, I don't want a Walmart special if you know what I mean and found Fleetfarm sells Interstate. Back when I turned a wrench Interstate was the Go To brand. Is that still the case?

We haven't had any issues with the current one that we have in one of our cars. A little on the expensive side but, it does work.

Get a battery minder. I got the NoCo Genius 2. I stick that on it when it won't be driven for awhile. I inherited my Dad's Hybrid Camry when he passed earlier this year. So I am driving that more than I am the truck to save mileage on it and gas.

For the last 10 years or so I've been getting my batteries from Super Walmart, their top of the line batteries have a 3 year full replacement warranty and are also the cheapest that I've found. No one else gives a full replacement (NOT prorated) 3 year warranty. I bought a new battery just a couple of months ago and IIRC the price was just under $100.

I used to use Interstate batteries when I could get them from a discount store but around here, no one discounts them and they're just as expensive as the Big Name Brand batteries.

Batteries have gone to the dogs over the last ten years, all brands. Everstart Walmarts seem to be solid choices these days, but seriously, you'll kill any battery doing what you did. With the money saved buying a walmart battery, buy any CTEK or NoCo unit to connect up once every few weeks.

Hmmmm. Costco discounts flooded/wet cell Interstates...

I just bought 2 group 65 (big ones) Interstate wet cell batteries from Costco for my F250 diesel for $99.95 each......with 36-month FULL replacement warranty. Same battery was $129.95 (on sale) at Fleet Farm. I think the MSRP on the Interstate group 65 (wet cell) is around $160..

Default Interstate battery?

I put an Interstate battery in my '92 Wrangler when the OEM battery died. It served well for many years in the desert, with boiling summers and freezing winters. When that battery finally died, I took it to the small auto parts store I liked. The owner looked at it and exclaimed " they haven't made batteries in that color for years!". When the OEM battery died in my '03 F150, I put an Interstate battery in it. That battery lasted about 8 years. Can't say how they are today, but that is how they used to be. YMMV.

Everything has changed massively, even Optimas are now considered crap.

Have not heard complaints with Interstate batteries, reputation wise I would not worry. Bigger item is to match the type, AGM, glass fiber mat batteries charge quicker and cycle thru more starts than a lead acid, and work far better with newer vehicles. Auto start stop, constant drain from electronics, general electrical loads. KM
