interior light problem

Default interior light problem

evry time it rains or gets a little wet my trucks driverside door will act weird, when you shut the door it still says door ajar and the interior light stays on... now when you go down the road a few feet the interior light goes out but still says door ajar and when you get some where and shut the door thr interior light satys on forever!! any ideas??

Seems to me like the door switch is getting wet. I would check it or replace it.

What year truck? My 97 F150 did it, they all did it around that era. The way I fixed it was to put the "straw" on the WD40 can and spray the crap out of where the little rod goes into the door at the front hinge and then all around the door latch area. Fixed it first time.

my truck isalso a '97 it only does it on the driver side is that what happened to yours?

Yep. Drove me crazy. WD40 in those spots and your issue will be gone.

just an update on the light problem... i took the fuse out the wd40 didn't work at all just made it worse and it drove me nuts so i just pulled the fuse!!

the switch should be somewhere round the hinges and its probably oxidized and not getting contact. best thing is get a new one try www.lmctruck.com

On my 98 the switch is not at the hinge but at the latch. It is spring loaded and will stick open causing the light to stay on. It is also a PITA to get to. Spray it again with penetrant!
