Default I'm an Idiot!

Well if you were traveling down highway 265 in Louisville yesterday afternoon and heard someone at themself at the top of their lungs, it was just me. I changed my oil yesterday and loosened the drain plug. I was trying not to get the oil all over me so I dropped it and it went in the drain pan. (I bet you know where I am going from here.) Well I didn't think anything of it. Not yet anyways. Well the pan filled up and the oil went all over the garage! I jumped back under the truck and fished out the plug. Well the damage was already done. I had about 4 quarts of used oil everywhere! So the bad words came for about 10 minutes and all during cleanup.

I just thought I would share my supidity! I hope you all got a laugh at my expense.

Other than the spill oil change went good. lol

Hey B-rad59, your not an idiot. Stuff happens. I would have been screaming four letter words also and then laughing at myself afterwards. Just go get you some coca cola and pour over the oil spill in the garage floor after you have cleaned up the access oil spill. Let the cola set there and eat at the oil in the concrete pores for 10 min. Then try and scrub it up. Thats what i have done and it helps pull up some of the stain and also made me worry about drinking that acidic stuff in the red can after seeing what i can do.

you are not an idiot, you just decided to flush the engine with some new oil. It's all good the only real harm is to your pocket book. the only people who are laughing are the people that have not done it.... YET.

You're not an idiot, just not a planner. I hang out on the 911 forum and this happens to somebody once a week. A 911 has 9 quarts of oil and most pans won't hold that much oil.

atleast its not like my truck... i dont do my oil changes (although i can very easily) because the oil splatters everywhere off the drop brackets for the lift kit... but ive done what you have so no big... i do understand the frustration cause you probably oil stained your garage floor.

get a bigger lift so you can easily slide a 3-5gal bucket under neath it, makes oil changin a lot easier.
