Default I have a question. Red Plasti dip.

I have decided to plasti-dip my running boards. I am tired of the chrome always looking dirty. After I took them off and took the plastic accents off. I started thinking. Can someone actually paint plastic accents. Thought about Plastidipping them in Red to match my truck.
I have a question. Red Plasti dip.-20140424_182303as.jpg

Question is.

Do you think it will hold up?
Will the color match close enough?

Keep in mind. I plan on adding marker lights to both ends and going to add white lights underneath to work as a puddle light.

Thanks

Someone told me that the plasti dip won't hold up to everyday use of being stepped on. I thought about doing my running boards to I don't like the Crome either.

He's right. Plastidip works on areas that don't get direct contact (i.e. bumpers, emblems) but if you use your side steps at all, it will not hold up

Bed Liner is probably a better option.

I plastidipped my steps 7 months ago and they hAve held really well. It is not going to be as resilient as bedliner, but it still works great. Not to mention is was way cheaper.

Thanks for all the replies. I thought about it a little while.. I think I might PD them. To see if I like it. If I do I think I will put the bed liner on them. I saw a spray can liner . Since I don't need a lot. ( I have a bed liner) Could try that.

Thanks

Don't waste your money dipping them. I've played with that stuff a lot and it won't hold up. I dipped the tank on my bike and it was peeling within 50 miles from my legs rubbing on it. I left the dip on the rear fender because pulling it is a bit of a pain in the *** and it's held up great.

This.

I think Plasti-Dip is an amazing product, but unless you never step on your running boards you're wasting money.

Go ask the people on at the dipyourcar.com forums. They'll tell you the same thing.

^^^^Exactly right. Dip does not hold up at all to being touched on a regular basis. Only apply it to areas with little to no contact.
